This tea set was originally designed for Lomonosov (former Imperial) Porcelain Factory in 1923 by Kazimir Malevich (1878-1935), a Russian painter and designer; he was one of the most important pioneers of geometric abstract art. Between 1915 and 1932, he developed an abstract painting called Suprematism, an art of pure form meant to be universal regardless of cultural or ethnic origin. He designed several items for Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in 1923.
